Immigration Bail Bonds

An immigration bond is a civil matter handled at the federal level by the Department of Homeland Security — separate from any criminal bond.

02 Overview

An immigration bail bond is a civil matter, not a criminal one. It is handled at the federal level by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Posting a criminal bond does not resolve an immigration hold — the two are entirely separate processes.

03 The Process

How immigration bonds move.

  1. 01

    Get the A-Number

You will need the detainee's Alien Registration Number (A-Number) — a unique nine-digit number that acts as the master key to the immigration case.

  2. 02

    Identify the bond type

Delivery bonds (Form I-352) guarantee court attendance. Voluntary departure bonds apply when the detainee has agreed to leave the U.S.

  3. 03

    Underwrite, post, release

We work with a surety company that writes immigration bonds. Once posted, ICE coordinates the release.
